As a vintage and rare bookseller there are always certain books that I am on the lookout for. Either they are popular with my patrons, they’re a favourite of mine, or both! One of them is The Secret Garden and I think you can easily guess that it fits both categories.
The Secret Garden remains on of the most influential books of my childhood and holds a special place in my heart. My beloved sister used to read it to me. It’s also one of the most loved children’s books of all time.
Our current copy is a 1956 edition from The Reprint Society with a light green dust jacket, bright green boartds and silver stamping, and black and white internal illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. A little page yellowing. Unclipped. Sweet as pie! The dust jacket has a couple of chips/tears on the front cover and is a bit stained, but pretty good for its age.
In my opinion, everyone should have a copy of this book in their home library! Snap it up!
