The Author:
Jessie Pope (1868–1941): A prolific writer and contributor to magazines like Punch and The Daily Mail. While she wrote extensively for children early in her career, she is most famously remembered today for her jingoistic WWI poems like “Who’s for the Game?”, which prompted Wilfred Owen to write his famous anti-war poem “Dulce et Decorum est” in response.
